Université Paris-Saclay was created on January 1st, 2020. The new university replaces Université Paris-Sud 11, and integrates as component-institutions 5 higher education and research institutions AgroParisTech, CentraleSupélec, the ENS Paris-Saclay, the Institut d’Optique Graduate School (IOGS) and the Institut des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques (IHES). Located south of Paris, on the newly built Paris-Saclay Campus, Université Paris-Saclay benefits from a strategic geographical and socio-economic position enhanced by its international visibility and that of its component-institutions. Its extended perimeter allows the new university to propose cutting edge research and a rich offer of quality training courses, from undergraduate degrees to Ph.D., on a very comprehensive range of subject well beyond a strong focus on Natural Sciences, Engineering & Technology, and Life Sciences & Medicine. The Paris-Saclay Campus is also at the heart of one of the largest innovation cluster in the world, hosting R&D centers of large industrial groups and a very strong network of incubators for start-ups and FabLabs.The Université Paris-Saclay thus wishes to become a driving force for the development of its territory and one of the best institutions in the world. Students’ applications can now be made directly to the university for undergraduate and master level courses. However, 2020 remains a construction year, as the new training offer, in particular, will only become fully operational in September 2020. It has thus been decided with QS staff that in 2020 the university will still appear in the QS rankings under the perimeter of Université Paris-Sud, while its component-institutions will continue to appear under their former perimeter. 2021 will thus be the final year of change.
